A weekly skills & healing program, at the Uganda Cancer Institute Care Home, healing happens every week – not just in treatment rooms, but even in care home and community.
Crafting Hope Together is one of UWOCASO’s ongoing skills development program and initiative where cancer patients, caregivers, security guards, and staff — women and men — gather to learn, create, and support each other.
Each week we come together to:
- Learn practical craft-making skills we can do from home - from handmade earrings to personalized hand bands and more.
- Build sources of income that give dignity and independence beyond hospital walls.
- Heal through self-expression - turning worry into creativity, and pain into purpose.
- Strengthen bonds - it’s become one of our most touching traditions to see men making earrings for their wives and handbands with their loved ones’ names It’s more than crafts.
- Skills for life. Crafts for healing. Community for support.
